Brave. Bold. Beautiful.
For 120 years of moving image history, Goddess celebrates bold megastars and challenges narratives, responds to expectations, and breaks boundaries.
From Michelle Yeoh who does her own martial arts action and Anna Tsuchiya who subverts the stereotype of Japanese films that are already entrenched, to Laverne Cox who fights for the rights of marginalized communities, this big screen legend has an inspiring character that suits us all.
Showing off behind-the-scenes footage, sketches and original costumes, including those worn by Marilyn Monroe and Chinese film star Zhang Ziyi, Goddess takes you on a journey through the lives of stars, from classic Hollywood stars to modern stars.
The exhibition highlights cinematic achievements from Hollywood, Hong Kong, Bollywood and many more.
Starting with the martial style that flashed through American action films and the impact of the Malay film golden age in Singapore, Goddess shows the film's heritage – which goes far beyond the silver screen.
Goddess was developed and curated by ACMI, with additional content contributed by the ArtScience Museum curatorial team.
